Well I have survived my first runway challenge in MVW 2017! The theme we were given was “Conga in the Congo”, and this was the description:
“You are bored of the glitz and glamour and wanted some adventure in your life. After a visit to the Conga, you had an idea to throw the party of a lifetime. Style an exotic formal look for a conga in the Congo. Your aim is to create a high fashion and impressive outfit, with elegance and wow factor.”
I didn’t know what to expect when I finally got to see the other contestant’s styling efforts, but when they all arrived backstage (and before I turned my settings down so far that they were all jellydolls) I was absolutely floored by many of the stunning and creative looks I saw. Frankly I felt way underdressed! This is my first MVW competition, and now that I see what I’m up against, I definitely need to up my game for the rest of this competition!
To give you an idea of my styling inspiration, here’s the background story I included in my submission NC, which was also read aloud during my walk.
“After a front row seat at the Congo Fall/ Winter Fashion Week, Fly returns home to throw the hottest soiree of the season. Inspired by the bold graphics and color she saw on the runway, she recreates fresh, fierce African style combining unexpected elements for a standout look. Fly was largely influenced by the stylish Brazzaville “Dandies” whose unique street style combines class with pure imagination. They never shy from bright color combinations, so Fly pushed herself to combine hot pink with red as an unexpected element in her styling. Fly can’t wait to share a slideshow of all her Congo moments with all of her fashionista friends at this highly anticipated event. Finishing off her look with a traditional headwrap and unforgettable statement jewelry, she prepares to “conga” the night away to celebrate this adventure and many more to come!”
Here’s a couple photos of those fabulous Brazzaville Street Dandies I referenced…how fun and awesome are these guys?!
Well I’m not sure I added enough “Conga” in my “Congo”, lol, but this is a wonderful learning experience and I know a bit better what to expect with the next challenge. I’m really enjoying how much this competition is forcing me to step out of my comfort zone. And it’s only the beginning!!

Hey hey all 🙂 Our last Colour of Couture challenge was an especially exciting one. We had a chance to research a real life Charity which we would like to support, should we be chosen as Miss Colour of Couture 2014. After some debate I chose the Soles4Souls campaign, which holds a four-star rating with Charity Navigator.
Did you know that there are approximately 3 BILLION people living in poverty on our planet? And did you realize that at least 3 MILLION of those people don’t even own shoes? Yet, we throw away nearly 700,000 tons of apparel and footwear in our landfills annually. Soles4Souls offers a simple and practical solution to solving this problem. Rather than throw your shoes away, simply donate them to a Soles4Souls local drop box, or raise community awareness by starting your own drop box in your community.
Soles4Souls estimates that every dollar donation = a pair of shoes for someone in need. The organization has partnered up with several global shoe companies who are now regularly donating their rejected shoes and older models. One of the most exciting opportunities of the Soles4Souls organization is the creation of micro-businesses throughout the world, which allows people to profit off the sale of the shoes and have hope in their lives for the future.
We were asked to style something which would represent us as an ambassador of the Charity of our choice. Today I wish to share my presentation build with you, as well as my Loovus Dzevavor “shoe dress” styling. Please read more about Soles4Souls today at http://soles4souls.org/ And be on the lookout for a big Shoe Fair this coming fall, if i am fortunate to bring my dream to fruition.

Happy Sunday my loves, hope you all had beautiful (if not short) weekends. Today I finally got the chance to visit Rico’s Tea House, an absolutely lovely new SIM created by decorator extraordinaire RicoRacer Flux. Now open to the public, Rico’s Tea House is the perfect place to come and relax, take gorgeous photos, and people watch (you are sure to see some of SL’s most fashionable enjoying the tea and sunshine). What could be better for Sunday brunch than Miamai’s new silk jumper, the Bianka, just released as part of the new “Luxe Collection”. And luxe it is…available in several colors and patterns, Bianka includes a HUD with options to change the look of the belt, as well as “normal” and “high heel” options in pant length. I could just feel the silk against my skin this morning as I enjoyed a cup of coffee and watched the ships sail by. A perfect end to the weekend, indeed.

Hey hey lovelies, have you checked out the latest round of Collabor88? This was one of my favorite finds and I couldn’t wait to share. Meet the new A/D/E Reijin dress in Gold by R2 Fashion. This avant-garde, futuristic dress comes in several colors and has a one of a kind silhouette which I just adore. I was actually looking for something for an Alexander McQueen inspired styling assignment, so you may detect some of his trademark looks in my look as well. Head on over to the April round of Collarbor88 this weekend, it’s a great round!

Happy weekend lovelies! Today is my first blog post for a new monthly event in SL which I think will be taking off in popularity very quickly…The Soundsation Fashion Event!
Soundsation opened on March 1, and each month a new round of designers will be showcasing their works at affordable prices all ending in “69” (insert snarky chuckle here.) After trying on everything from my bloggers box (it was like a mini-christmas here), I knew that I wanted to blog this totally funky lil’ outfit by RD Style. The designer, Renata Dragovar, has appropriately named this outfit “Kawaii” and I agree that it is just that. The outfit comes with the bandeau top, mesh tank dress, leggings, AND the cutest little patterned Doc Marten-ish boots. The outfit is also available in pink tones as well. I paired this outfit with some treats from the Arcade (just had to show them off somewhere). I hope that you too will be sure to visit the Soundsation Fashion Event in Second Life. Your taxi awaits!
