Vera’s Heart, a precious gift

Vera's Heart_final

Today I wanted to share a very special gift that was given to myself and all of my Colour of Couture sisters from our lovely and stunning winner, Miss Vera Fenutzini.  Vera is a lovely woman inside and out, and worthy of the crown in 2014.  In fact she not only won Miss Colour of Couture, but Miss Metaverse as well!  Vera collaborated with Hethwen Resident to create this very special gown for the CoC finalists and a handful of lucky others (there were only 20 copies of this creation released to the grid).  Vera, please accept my sincerest gratitude for your lovely gift!  It was my pleasure getting to work with you and become your friend.  You are an inspiration to us all.

Colour of Couture Runway Challenge “DSquared2”

Meet me at the Tiki Bar

CoC DSquared_full CoC DSquared_Close

For those of you who have been following the 2014 Colour of Couture Top Model Competition, I thank you for your support!  This amazing experience is nearing an end, and our final runway challenge before the grand finale and crowning of CoC was our interpretation of the RL Spring 2014 DSquared2 Collection.  This collection was inspired by 1950’s bombshells and was just dripping with old hollywood sex appeal.  From the tousled curls to the legs with no end…this collection was all about femininity.

I took my inspiration from the Monochromatic section of DSquared2’s Spring/ Summer collection. There were a few black and white looks which I felt really exuded old Hollywood glamor and sex appeal. I knew I wanted to show LOTS of leg, and to do so with a retro high-waisted bottom. I loved the rich look of a snow-white outfit with black accents on the shorts, bra, and jacket.

Many of the models in the collection were seen in big-brimmed sun hats and cat eye glasses so I knew I wanted that to be a part of my styling. I also stuck with soft retro waves and coral colored gloss which I noticed on many of the models, particularly in the monochromatic designs. The over sized tote bag features a crocodile print which I chose after seeing it on some coats in the collection. I completed the look with some statement earrings and an elegant brooch for an elegant finish to the look.

Soles4Souls, a charity I belive in and we can easily support! #Colour of Couture

CoC Live Interview Styling_007 CoC Live Interview Styling_006 CoC Live Interview Styling_008

Hey hey all 🙂  Our last Colour of Couture challenge was an especially exciting one.  We had a chance to research a real life Charity which we would like to support, should we be chosen as Miss Colour of Couture 2014.  After some debate I chose the Soles4Souls campaign, which holds a four-star rating with Charity Navigator.

Did you know that there are approximately 3 BILLION people living in poverty on our planet?  And did you realize that at least 3 MILLION of those people don’t even own shoes?  Yet, we throw away nearly 700,000 tons of apparel and footwear in our landfills annually.  Soles4Souls offers a simple and practical solution to solving this problem.  Rather than throw your shoes away, simply donate them to a Soles4Souls local drop box, or raise community awareness by starting your own drop box in your community.

Soles4Souls estimates that every dollar donation = a pair of shoes for someone in need.  The organization has partnered up with several global shoe companies who are now regularly donating their rejected shoes and older models.  One of the most exciting opportunities of the Soles4Souls organization is the creation of micro-businesses throughout the world, which allows people to profit off the sale of the shoes and have hope in their lives for the future.

We were asked to style something which would represent us as an ambassador of the Charity of our choice.  Today I wish to share my presentation build with you, as well as my Loovus Dzevavor “shoe dress” styling.  Please read more about Soles4Souls today at http://soles4souls.org/  And be on the lookout for a big Shoe Fair this coming fall, if i am fortunate to bring my dream to fruition.

The 2014 Colour of Couture Earth Hour Challenge

Image

Image

Hi again lovelies!  So I am quite behind in my blogging assignments of late and it dawned on me that I am WAY overdue to share one of the most important ones of all!  Here is my styling for the “Earth Hour Challenge” in this years Colour of Couture Top Model Competition.  Can you tell I had a lot of fun with this one?  The Earth Hour show took place on March 22nd (see I’m only a month late), and was quite an event.  As you can see there were countless designers sponsoring the event, and it was the live runway debut of the Colour of Couture candidates.  Our challenge?  “FOR EARTH HOUR YOU WILL STYLE COSMO COUTURE. THIS WILL BE FUN AND WILD SO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX HOWEVER; YOU WILL HAVE TO USE YOUR PRIMARY COLORS OF BLUE/GREEN TO REPRESENT THE EARTH.”  I hope you enjoy my interpretation.

Skin: Deesses Skins “Amanda” in Cappucino
Lipstick: MUA “Bicolor” Gift in Silver/ Blue
Blush: Dead Apples “Contour Blush” in Peach Dark

With this styling I tried to blend organic elements of the Earth with both cosmic and spiritual elements. I wanted my outfit to reflect the fantastic mysteries of the Universe and where we Earthlings fit into the grand scheme of things. I styled myself as a mystical goddess, balancing the Earth effortlessly on my crown as I dance through the galaxy. We see this dance of the Goddess in all things, cycles, and seasons, and the more in tune we are to these cosmic patterns, the better off our planet and all of its inhabitants will be.

Colour of Couture 2nd Runway Challenge! (Inspired by Thom Browne’s Spring Collection)

ImageImage

What is up my loveliiiiiiiies??  As most of you know, I have the great honor of competing this year in the Colour of Couture Top Model Competition.  It has been my most challenging endeavor to date in my Second Life and the stakes are getting higher!  Our second Runway Challenge for the 2014 Colour of Couture Top Model Competition was to style a look inspired by the Thom Browne Spring 2014 collection.

In what was considered possibly “the creepiest” show from NY Fashion Week yet, Browne’s RL designs were displayed on a runway as cold and sterile as a mental hospital complete with surreal “nurses” and “mental patients”. Browne mixed this macabre ambience with a one of a kind blend of Baroque (all white, ruffled collars, exaggerated shoulders) with an almost 1940’s sensibility (bobby socks, snoods, pencil skirts). These elements combined with Browne’s idea of putting a “clown” on the runway (he had never seen one in real life), inspired one of the most talked about collections of the season.

While styling my interpretation of this collection, I focused on the themes of Baroque, tones of white, and the idea of being caged and somewhat deranged.  All 14 contestants excelled at this styling and it was a show to remember!

2014 Colour of Couture Competition…I’m in!

Image

Image

Cheers lovelies!  Today I was honored to walk in the live casting for the 2014 Colour of Couture Competition.  If you recall the post from February 12, you will remember just how excited I was to submit for this wonderful competition.  Well, luckily from those photos I was chosen to walk in front of the CoC judges, an esteemed panel of well known power houses in the SL fashion industry.  The next day I was asked for an interview in ModeLS magazine!  Check it out here:

Our task for the live casting?  Create a look inspired by the Spring ’14 collection of Giambattista Valli.  Here are a few pictures which inspired my creation today…

I had a great time today sharing the runway with some good friends of mine and many people I admire greatly.  After changing my styling about 8 times I finally settled on the look you see above, which I felt showed enough leg, asymmetry, and bold color to do Mr. Valli’s creations justice.  Luckily the judges agreed, because I am now officially one of the 16 candidates chosen to compete in this years competition!  (And I can’t stop smiling).
